Rob Booth

Director of Online Services

Rob has been involved in web development and online production for over 10 years, having developed his first website for a sole trader back in 1996 using an Amiga home computer.

He worked in sales and marketing prior to joining the Lincolnshire Echo in 1998, developing the thisis city sites, a concept which was rolled out UK-wide.

In 1999, Rob joined East Midlands Development Agency as a Web Developer, where his remit covered the entire development of the Agency's websites, from visual and application design to programming, deployment and maintenance. He developed various accessible websites designed to showcase innovation, inward investment and young enterprise as well as the main portal with a content management system to allow all departments to update their pages.

He has worked alongside Mediawave, to develop bespoke internet software for online broadcasts of the Disney Kids awards. The software was subsequently used by Microsoft for live polling and chat, for Novartis Secure webcasts and presentations and for the 2003 MOBO Awards.

Bringing together his history in sales and marketing with his web development expertise, Rob realised that what clients wanted and what consumers needed were often at odds. He decided that a move into a fast growing marketing communications agency would allow him to focus solely on creating targeted, strategically considered websites which would effectively meet these differing requirements.

Rob joined Voltage as Director of Online Services in March 2008 and has dramatically changed the way Voltage works with its online clients. There has been a new focus on digital marketing, ensuring that websites are properly marketed online to deliver the desired results.

"Many agencies apply a cookie cutter approach to developing websites. The entire development process should be based around bringing together the client’s requirements with what the end-user needs."
