Martin Smith

Creative Director

Martin has over 26 years of experience within the advertising and design industry, having started his career as a junior designer in 1982 with Harrison Pettifer Creative Consultants, where he worked as a creative on accounts such as Anti Smoking, Dental Health Campaigns for the Scottish Health Education Group.

After spending time in New Zealand as a freelance designer, Martin returned to Scotland as Studio Manager with Eyedea Design Consultancy where he developed his skills working on all forms of high quality printed literature such as annual reports for SCOTVEC, The Blood Transfusion Service and NHS Mental Health Trust. Corporate brochures for IBM, Scottish Airports, COMPAQ, GDA, Standard Life and Scottish Enterprise. He also worked on advertising campaigns for Glasgow District Council and Good Hearted Glasgow for GGHB (Greater Glasgow Health Board).

Martin joined Stevenson Sharpe in 1996 as Senior Designer / Creative Director and for 11 years, provided the creative driving force for the business. He directed projects for the likes of NHS Scotland, Scottish  Enterprise, Horne Engineering, Burn Stewart Distillers, The Dawn Group, Ogilvie Group, RBS and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. As well as overseeing all creative for the agency, he also account directed and managed the creative team for the national retailer £-stretcher and instore which consisted of national and local press campaigns, TV, radio, leaflets POS and all forms of internal and external communication.

As Creative Director at Voltage since April 2008, Martin has already been an integral part of the management team, developing new business from Historic Scotland, Which? and Barnett Waddingham to name but a few.
